Portage Lakes Sprint Distance Triathlon - September 19th 2010

I made it through the 750 meter swim, 12 mile bike and 3.1 mile swim to finish the 2010 Portage Lakes Sprint Distance Triathlon!! It took me a little longer than I had expected, but I didn't anticipate the biking to be as challenging as it was. Those were some big hills! It was an amazing feeling to finish the race and I felt very lucky crossing the finish line to be greeted by so many friends and family who came out to cheer me on! I couldn't have done it without your support.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported Team Trimbath this year and donated to the cause. We exceeded our goal by $500 and to raise a total of $2000 for spinal cord research! I am a little sad to see the end of this triathlon season, but I plan to be back at it again next year!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

SELREC 5K Classic - August 15th 2010

Team Trimbath brought 9 runners to take on the SELREC 5K Classic on August 15th. Sporting our new Team Trimbath T-shirts, we took to the streets of Lyndhurst, Ohio with full force. We had a wide range of runners in our group, from experienced to first timers. Everyone gave it there all and finished strong! Along with being a part of our Christopher Reeve Foundation Fundraiser, this race also benefited Brush High School athletics... crossing the finish line at Korb field brought back many memories for most of the team who are Brush High School Alumni.

A huge thank you to everyone who ran in the race and to our families who came out to support us. SELREC 5K Classic participants: Nicole Mastrangelo, Chrissy Luci, Megan Mariano, Ann King, Amanda Lewis, Allie Retter, Diane Trimbath, John Trimbath and Erin Trimbath.

It was an amazing experience to run alongside my Dad in this race and come across the finish line with him. He once again has shown me that anything is possible and giving up is NEVER an option. Thank you, Dad, for helping me to see what really matters in life and for teaching me the importance of always staying positive!

You can help Team Trimbath make a difference in the lives of all individuals who push forward everyday while living with a spinal cord injury. Please visit our team fundraising page for more info:

Playa del Rey 5K

The sun was shining and the weather was beautiful for the Playa del Rey 5K in Los Angeles, California. A huge thanks to Kyle Retter for joining Team Trimbath and competing in his first 5K event, and for trying hard to look like a pro with the outfit he put together...
Somehow we started off the race a little late... after checking in, we went to the car to drop a few things off and on our way back we saw that the race had already started! A few swear words later and we were running to the starting line. It was a rough start but the good news is we finished and didn't come in last place!!

As we started the race, runners were already coming back around on the first loop!

All smiles by the end of the race.

Thanks to everyone who continues to support Team Trimbath. We are almost 1/3 of the way to reaching our fundraising goal of $1500 for the Christopher Reeve Foundation! The next race coming up will be the SELREC 5K Classic on August 15th in Lyndhurst, Ohio. The race benefits the SELREC Scholarship Fund and the South Euclid-Lyndhurst Schools extra-curricular activities. We have a group of Brush High School Alumni and friends joining Team Trimbath for the race. It should be a great event and we hope it will get us even closer to our fundraising goal!

Undy 5000 - Denver, CO

Two down... three more to go! Today was another successful race in Denver, Colorado. "Team Trimbath" got a little bit bigger for the Undy 5000 event... Bethany, Greg and Matt joined in on the 5K fun at City Park. A huge thank you to these three for coming out and running with me and for supporting the cause. The sun was in full effect at 9:00a.m. and there was very little shade during the race, so needless to say it was H-O-T! I was definitely feeling the mile high altitude in my lungs, but we all ran hard and made it across the finish line!!

Feeling like we might pass out... but we all made it!

Best running buddy ever!!

Race for the Place

To kick off this year's fundraising events I participated in The Race for the Place 5k event in Beachwood, Ohio. A huge thank you to my Mom for coming out and supporting me!

I put up a good fight... but this kid definitely beat me across the finish line!

I was very excited to witness my first "flash mob" before the race!

The next race I will be competing in is the Undy 5000 5k in Denver Colorado on June 26th. Be sure to check back for updates on that event and future races...

Casino Night Fundraiser

We would like to thank everyone who came out to the Casino Night Fundraiser at the Terrace Club on August 8th. The Fundraiser was put on by some of our dear friends and family in order to raise money to help our family purchase a wheelchair accessible van. As always, we appreciate every one's support! I will post pictures from the event soon. In the meantime check out this video of Dad at physical therapy, hanging out at home, and celebrating at the Casino Night Fundraiser. Art Therapy Tuesdays!

John has been working hard to gain back movement in his arms and hands. He has been participating in a lot of therapy to improve his fine motor skills... and boy is it paying off! Some of the most recent milestones have been John's ability to eat on his own (picking up popcorn, chips and even holding his own sandwich!) He is also participating in "art therapy" with Erin on Tuesday afternoons in the back yard.
